Live from Kuwait, with drama (🇰🇼)
The Premier Padel Kuwait Major is underway, with ~$1.2 million in prize money. It’s also the first Major played indoors this season.
On the men’s side, No. 2s Chingalán will miss the tournament after Galán withdrew with an injury. With no confirmed recovery timeline, his availability for Spain at next week’s FIP World Cup in Doha remains uncertain. The withdrawal also comes as fans debate the pair’s future together…
That leaves Golden Boys Coello / Tapia with an even clearer path to another year-end No. 1 finish. The pair arrive in Kuwait on a four-tournament winning streak and have already won the Rome and Paris Majors this season. Another title would put them in an even stronger position to lock down the top spot for a fourth consecutive year.
Meanwhile, the women’s race is far from settled. Three pairs remain in the hunt for the year-end crown: No. 1s Triay / Brea, No. 2s González / Josemaría, and No. 3s Sánchez / Ustero.
Despite their No. 3 status, Sánchez / Ustero are on a hot streak. They’ve won three of the last four Premier Padel events, including the Paris Major and the Milan P1, and sit just 1,980 points behind the leaders. With 6,500 points still available this season, the gap is very much bridgeable.
González / Josemaría ain’t out of the picture either. They’ve won six titles this season, matching Triay and Brea, although they’ll need a strong finish and some help from the results ahead of them.
Clearly, no one is safe. Triay and Brea have the points advantage, Sánchez and Ustero have the momentum, and González and Josemaría have the firepower to disrupt both. Kuwait, followed by the Dubai P1 and Mexico Major, could determine who controls the final stretch.
Next stop, Doha for the FIP World Cup (🇶🇦)
The Middle East swing doesn’t end in Kuwait. The FIP World Cup Qatar 2026 runs November 2-7 at Doha’s Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with 16 men’s and 16 women’s national teams set to compete.
Organizers say preparations are complete, and the final qualifying places will be settled during the joint African and Asian qualifiers in Kuwait. For Galán, the timing adds another question mark to an already frustrating injury setback. For everyone else, it’s the next major test of national-team depth, with Spain and Argentina among the headline contenders.
Pro Padel League: Vegas replaces Guadalajara (🇺🇸)
Schedule update! The North-America-based Pro Padel League is now taking its final regular-season stop to Las Vegas, swapping the previously announced Guadalajara destination and giving the Las Vegas Smash a home-market debut.
The Vegas tournament will run November 18-21 at Dolby Live at Park MGM, with all ten franchises competing for one of eight spots in the Miami Finals. The league also just secured MGM Resorts International as its title sponsor, while a separate exhibition court at Bellagio Fountain Walk will bring padel directly onto the Strip.
The Hexagon glow-up (🌍)
Rebranded as the Hexagon World Series, the FIP-governed team circuit will expand to four events across three continents in 2027.
Madrid opens the season January 21-24, followed by a North American stop in March, Scandinavia in June, and Abu Dhabi’s season finale October 21-24. Seven of eight franchises have been revealed, including teams backed by Andy Murray, Eva Longoria, Rafael Nadal’s academy, and Sergio Agüero’s KRÜ. The North American and Scandinavian host cities are yet to be announced…
We have a couple rule changes rolling out as well in an attempt for better viewership. Instead of traditional games and sets, the circuit will feature best-of-five super tie-breaks with the first four to ten points, with a deciding fifth to six. Results will feed into a season-long ranking across all four events.
In other pro news…
Men’s No. 13 Coki Nieto opened up about the sport becoming faster, more aggressive, and more vertical, leaving fewer openings for players (like him!) who rely on consistency and point construction rather than raw power. (🇪🇸)
Women’s No. 1s Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea will headline the Colombia Padel Fest, running November 20-22 in Bogotá. They’ll be joined by Argentine legends Fernando “Bela” Belasteguín and Juan Martín Díaz, who dominated the sport together for 13 consecutive seasons as world No. 1. The event will mix exhibition matches with amateur competition. (🇨🇴)
